// a game about falling asleep //

a sketch for the dream state

It's fair to say that sleeping is one of my favorite things in life. I mean, how can you not love sleeping? The moment when all your struggles go away, you're not judged or expected to perform. It is just a beautiful blanket of dark nothingness.

So... I thought I'd make a game about this: about all the in-between states of consciousness we experience when we are invited into dreams.

But it's also about vlogging, about performing private moments in front of the camera, about how a device we thought of as a tool of documentation eventually comes back to dictate our lives. If you don't post on the internet, you don't exist; but if you post, you're judged.

Can we escape this cycle while we sleep? Is sleeping the only moment when we are truly free?

crow funeral

This is the starting point of my game. As you can see, it's very poetic (= questionable marketability), and I don't even play that many games. But somehow it's been a year that I've been sitting at my desk sketching, godoting, blendering and coding. So this better go somewhere — and this is what I'll be documenting here in the devlog.
